‘SCORPION’ WAS THE MOST POPULAR ALBUM OF 2018

Drake is still winning in 2019 and he hasn’t even released any new music yet!

According to Billboard, the rap superstar’s Scorpion and “God’s Plan” are Nielsen Music’s top album and song of 2018. This is the second time Drizzy has taken home the honor; he won it in 2016 for Views. Most of Scorpion’s totals came from streaming as the LP garnered 3.293 million SEA units (equaling 4.572 billion on-demand audio streams for the set’s songs in 2018).

As for “God’s Plan,” it was the most-streamed song in terms of audio-only on-demand streams (918.87 million) and video-only on-demand streams (647.84 million). All total, the song generated 1.566 billion on-demand audio and video streams.

Another Drake song, “In My Feelings,” garnered 1.100 billion streams, most likely because of the viral Instagram dance challenge created by Shiggy last year.

Nielsen Music’s 2018 tracking year ran from Dec. 29, 2017 through Jan. 3, 2019.

This adds to Drake’s other achievements in the streaming world. Drizzy was crowned Spotify’s most-streamed artist of 2018. He racked up 8.2 billion streams at the streaming platform, with “God’s Plan” being the No. 1 streamed song of 2018.

The Toronto native also earned being the most-streamed artist on competing streaming service Apple Music. In addition, Drake’s songs “Nice for What” and “In My Feelings” as well as his collaborative songs with BlocBoy JB (“Look Alive”), Lil Baby (“Yes Indeed”) and Travis Scott (“Sicko Mode”) all were among the most-streamed tunes on Apple’s Top 100 Global Songs Chart.

In short, Drake is crowned “King of Audio Streaming” in 2018
